Art in the Stacks: Renee Balter

The Island Theatre (acrylic) by Renee Balter
The Friends of the Vineyard Haven Public Library will feature the work of island artist Renee Balter, beginning Wednesday April 3rd, 2013. The exhibit will be on display during regular library hours through May 3rd, as part of the “Art in the Stacks” program.

The show will be a retrospective of sorts. Ms. Balter has chosen to exhibit work that reflects her whimsical and detailed view of the island landscape over the years. Beginning with the popular pen and ink drawing, “Lucy Vincent Beach” circa 1978, the show will include a variety of media and styles, including original paintings, mono prints and giclee prints.

Ms. Balter’s work has been shown at the Cousen Rose, Dragonfly and Featherstone Galleries in Oak Bluffs.  She has recently become a member of the Arts District in Oak Bluffs and is working and showing her work from her studio/gallery at the corner of School Street and Gorham Avenue that adjoins the District.

“Art in the Stacks” is an initiative of the Friends of the Library, to provide individual artists an opportunity to show their work, and for library patrons to enjoy art at the library throughout the year.
