Art in the Stacks: Jennifer Langhammer

The Friends of the Vineyard Haven Library are pleased to present an exhibit of ceramic sculpture and drawings by Jennifer Langhammer. The exhibit will be on display on the lower level of the library during regular library hours throughout the month of June, 2017.

Jennifer's work is "Organic Abstraction". Her pieces are inspired by but not meant to imitate nature. Jennifer graduated from California College of the Arts and has a post-baccalaureate from The School of the Museum of Fine Arts. Jennifer exhibits her work locally and nationally.

The library's "Art in the Stacks" space features rotating monthly exhibits and is managed by the Friends of the Library. The library also has a permanent collection of artworks including 12 paintings by Vineyard artist Captain John Ivory. Art in the Stacks: Bill O'Callaghan

The Friends of the Vineyard Haven Library are pleased to present an exhibit of photographs and sculpture by Bill O'Callaghan, the “Mad Potter” of Martha's Vineyard. His photographs are on display on the lower level of the library, and sculptures are placed throughout the building. Visitor may view the show during regular library hours throughout the month of July.

Bill is inspired by a combination of the folklore of Ireland, where he grew up, which is very nature based, and the beauty he sees around him here on the Vineyard. According to the artist, "I took some pottery courses here as a hobby originally, and liked it so much I continued on my own. Most times I have a rough idea of something and it grows and changes as I explore it, and I end up with something new. That is the real fun."
