32nd Annual Earth Day Beach Clean-up with VCS!

Vineyard Conservation Society has announced the date for this year’s Beach Clean-up! A community-wide event with hundreds of volunteers strategically organized at 28 (or more) beaches and other shoreline locations, including Owen Park, Owen Little Way, Lagoon Pond Landing, Lake Street Landing, Tashmoo Beach, and VH Harbor in Tisbury. Each year, this event results in thousands of pounds of trash being removed from our beaches. Don't forget the After-party at the MV Museum at noon!! Free lunch for all beach volunteers and the 2nd Annual Earth Day Festival!

Local organizations returning this year to work at designated beaches include the MV Bank, Lagoon Pond Association, Friends of Sengekontacket, Wampanoag Tribe of Aquinnah, Tisbury Waterways Inc., MV Surfcasters Association, Sheriff’s Meadow Foundation, The Church of Latter Day Saints, MV Striped Bass and Bluefish Derby Committee, MV Shellfish Group, Boy Scouts, Felix Neck, Harborview Hotel, and The Trustees. Special thanks to all the Towns and the DPW’s from Tisbury, OB and Edgartown, the MV Refuse District and Bruno’s for taking care of all the beach trash!

29th Annual Earth Day Beach Clean-up

 

Join Vineyard Conservation Society at your favorite beach on April 17th for the 29th annual Earth Day Beach Clean-up! Gather your family & friends, or just get out there on your own, and help  protect our Island environment while cleaning the oceans of the Earth. Make sure to wear a mask and keep your distance from non-pod members. 

Volunteers will be there on April 17th from 10am to noon with bags and gloves, or bring your ownIf you're not on the Vineyard, or would just rather do your own thing this year, we invite everyone to go to any beach, trail, or neighborhood any day in April and join in the clean-up. Share your stories and photos with us (email to info@vineyardconservation.org, or tag us on on social media, #vineyardconservation)

There will not be an after-party this year but there will be a Pop-Up Photo Contest! Snap some pics of the coolest, grossest, and most unusual things you find on the beach. Email VCS your pics or post to Facebook or Instagram and tag @vineyardconservation. There will be fun prizes for the best photos!
