Free Arts & Crafts Video Classes with Creativebug!



Martha's Vineyard library cardholders now have unlimited free access to Creativebug, our new online crafting resouce! Sign-up with your library card to take hundreds of easy to follow, beautifully produced, creative video classes. The classes are pre-recorded so you can enjoy them any time and at your own pace. Some of the class categories are: Art & Design, Sewing, Knitting, Food & Home, and Kids. There are easy and quick projects as well as more in depth courses. We hope you enjoy this easily navigated and accessible addition.

Free VHS Exchange at the Library

The Vineyard Haven library now has a "VHS Exchange" rack in the DVD section on the main floor. A selection of VHS tapes are available to library patrons with no check-out required. You may keep the tapes, or return them whenever you wish. The library will also accept donated VHS tapes to share, but please check with a staff member before leaving a donation. All DVDs, and VHS tapes located on the lower level of the library, should still be checked out using a CLAMS card.

Greg Mortenson on PBS

On Friday, January 15th, Bill Moyers' Journal featured an interview with Greg Mortenson. If you missed the television broadcast, you can watch the video or read the transcript on the PBS website.

Greg Mortenson is the subject of the adult lecture series with Jim Norton at the library this month. His books, "Three Cups of Tea" and "Stones Into Schools" are available at the library. For details on the library programs, view our event calendar.

Library Programs Now "On Demand"

Martha's Vineyard Community Television (MVTV) is now offering online video on demand. The new service gives viewers with high-speed Internet access the capability to watch videotaped Island town government meetings and other programming online.

Recent library programs that are available on the website include Dr. Sheldon Hackney on Freedom, Peter Cabana on Energy, author Russ Baker, and the Island Affordable Housing Fund Community Forum.

To access the new service, go to MVTV's website http://www.mvtv.org/ and click on "video on demand" in the list at left. Users who experience difficulties should contact MVTV at 508-696-9760.
