“The Tick Talk” with Public Health Biologist, Patrick Roden-Reynolds

On Tuesday, July 2nd at 6:00 PM, the Vineyard Haven Library will present “The Tick Talk,” a conversation with Patrick Roden-Reynolds, Public Health Biologist for the Inter-Island Public Health Excellence Collaboration and Director of the Martha’s Vineyard Tick Program.

This in-person presentation will cover the basics of tick ecology and behavior, including the most important and effective prevention tactics, as well as updates on lone star ticks, Alpha-gal syndrome, and other current topics. Question and answer period will follow the talk.

As Public Health Biologist and Director of the Martha’s Vineyard Tick Program, Patrick Roden-Reynolds’ work focuses on education and surveillance of vector-borne diseases and their vector populations.

The Martha’s Vineyard Tick-borne Illness Reduction Initiative (aka the Tick Program) is part of the Inter-Island Public Health Excellence Collaborative of Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket, a project funded by the Massachusetts Department of Health to fortify local public health monitoring and delivery. 

The MV Tick Program is dedicated to reducing the number of ticks and tick-borne illnesses on Martha’s Vineyard through education, advocacy and cooperation with other organizations and individuals.
